The election of the Bangladesh Film Directors Association has concluded amidst much enthusiasm at Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) yesterday. Sohanur Rahman Sohan was elected the President, while Shaheen Sumon was elected the General Secretary for the years 2021-2022.
The total number of voters in this election was 361. Owing to the pandemic, the nominated candidates turned to social media platforms, phone calls, and BFDC campaigns to ask for votes, replacing the regular campaigns, where the candidates would often visit the voters personally at their residences.
Sohanur Rahman Sohan received a total of 129 votes.
The panels who contested the votes were — Kazi Hayat and SA Haque Olike, Shah Alam Kiran and Safiuddin Safi, and Sohanur Rahman Sohan and Shaheen Sumon.
Chutku Ahmed was elected the Vice President, while Kobirul Islam Rana became the Deputy Secretary General.
Rokibul Islam Rokib became the Organizational Secretary. Mohammad Salahuddin and Noman Robin became the Secretary of Finance and International/Technological Secretary respectively. Shahin Kabir Tutul was elected the Cultural and Sports Secretary. Anowar Siraji became the Publicity, Publications and Offices secretary.
The Executive Secretaries elected on this panel are Zakir Hossain Raju, Palli Malek, Abdur Rahim Babu, Nur Mohamamd Moni, Masuma Tani, Mostafizur Rahman Babu, Salim Azam, Habibul Islam Habib, Saidur Rahman Said, and Shahadat Hossain Liton.
Abdul Latif Bachchu was the election commission chairperson, while A S M Shafiqur Rahman and B H Nishan have were selected as members of the election commission team. On the other hand, Dewan Nazrul was made the chairman of the election appeal board.
