Drew Timme’s mom reverses course, wears custom earrings of son — mustache and all

Drew Timme’s mustache continues to grow in size and influence as Gonzaga advances through the 2021 NCAA Tournament.

It’s no secret the Bulldog forward’s facial hair has become one of the funnier storylines of March Madness; it was already a story when Gonzaga entered the tournament as the No. 1 overall seed, and became even more prominent when Timme was told in an interview that his mom didn’t want him to keep it.

It would seem, however, that mom has reversed course and is fully on the mustache — which is fast approaching a goatee — bandwagon. She was seen wearing custom earrings of her son, facial hair and all, during Gonzaga’s Sweet 16 romp over Creighton:

That’s good, too, because it seems there’s no stopping the ‘stache until the end of March Madness:

“It’s something that really can’t be tamed,” Timme told CBS postgame. “I can’t even control it. … I’m just glad everyone’s having fun with it. That was the whole point of it.”

Timme’s mother isn’t the only one having fun, either; Clark Kellogg was seen wearing a fake ‘stache on CBS’s studio set in honor of the real thing.

If Timme keeps playing like he did Sunday, then there’s a good chance we’ll see his facial hair develop into a full-blown beard. He scored a game-high 22 points on 10-of-14 shooting and added six rebounds and four assists in the 83-65 win over the Bluejays. He’s now averaging 20.7 points, 8.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game for the tournament.
