Bangladesh captain Mahmudullah Riyad has said that they need to pick themselves up from the crushing defeat in the first T20I and make sure they don’t make the same mistakes in the second match on Tuesday.
After losing the three-match ODI series 3-0, Bangladesh started the T20 series with a 66-run defeat. The T20 skipper felt it was the batting department which let them down once again.
“The bowlers bowled quite well, Nasum Ahmed bowled really well on his debut,” Mahmudullah said in his post-match reaction.
“Once again, we have let ourselves (down) in the batting dept, kept losing wickets in clusters. We need to pick ourselves up in the second game,” the veteran batsman added.
While praising the form of Devon Conway and the experience of Ish Sodhi, Mahmudullah said they needed to be a little more tighter in bowling and a lot better in batting/
“He’s (Conway) in very good touch, he has been batting really well. We need to find a way to restrict him. 190 was a good score here to chase, we conceded few more boundaries,” said the skipper.
“But the batting unit has to click. We can’t afford to make the same mistakes again and again,” concluded Mahmudullah.
