by Khan Helal

Police yesterday filed two cases against some 500 leaders and activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) for their alleged attack on law enforcers centring a rally in Mymensingh city’s Kalibari area on Thursday.

Marking the death anniversary of BNP president Ziaur Rahman, JCD organised the rally on the day.

Police, however, said JCD activists started throwing brick bats at law enforcers when a police team asked them to stop the meeting as it was organised defying health guidelines.

OC Firoz Talukder of Kotwali police said they arrested eight persons.

Meanwhile, BNP at a press conference said police attacked on their rally to foil the event and filed “false” cases against JCD activists.
