Will talk about Shakib issue after board meeting: Akram

by Sakuragun Chan

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) director Akram Khan has said the board will sit for a meeting with the president and then reply to Shakib Al Hasan’s allegations regarding misrepresentation of his letter and other issues relating to the BCB.

The ace all-rounder lambasted the cricket board, and especially Khan, over the handling of his preference to play in the IPL. He also claimed that apart from director Khaled Mahmudh and president Nazmul Hassan, none of the others deserve credit as far as planning and development of players is concerned.

Shakib talked about these things during an hour-long Facebook conversation with Cricfrenzy, a cricket portal, on Saturday night.

When contacted for a comment, Khan said, “We will not say anything today on this (Shakib issue). We will first talk to the board president. We will sit for a meeting. After the meeting, we will officially talk about this.”

Shakib has particularly pointed finger at Khan for ‘misrepresnting the letter’ which he sent to BCB to seek permission to play in the IPL, opting out of the two-match Test series in Sri Lanka.

“I think Akram Bhai [Akram Khan] did not read my letter properly. Akram Bhai has repeatedly said that I didn’t want to play Tests, which is not mentioned anywhere in my letter,” Shakib said.
